The City of Mankato is seeking community input from local pickleball players as part of the redevelopment of its existing courts. Feedback is especially encouraged on the overall design of the facility, as well as on a few key feature options, including the addition of court lighting and a permanent restroom facility near the site.
Originally constructed in the 1980s as tennis courts, the space was later converted for pickleball as the sport grew in popularity. Until 2023, these courts served as the city’s only dedicated pickleball location.
The planned redevelopment will address the deteriorating and cracked playing surface, improve and enhance safe access to individual courts, and create a more welcoming, communal space for players and visitors to gather and connect.

The original courts at Tourtellotte Park were built in the 1980s for tennis. They were transformed into pickleball courts when the craze started. Until 2023, these were our only outdoor pickleball courts. This redevelopment will fix the cracked surface; add better, safer access to individual courts; and will create another communal space for users to interact.
